Resort ownerĀ Pulkit Arya, son of expelled BJP leaderĀ Vinod Arya, filed aĀ missing persons reportĀ in the revenue jurisdiction of Pauri Garhwal.
September 22, 2022
Amid growing public outrage and media pressure, the case was transferred toĀ Laxman Jhula Police Station. Upon investigation, police detainedĀ Pulkit Arya,Ā Saurabh Bhaskar, andĀ Ankit Gupta. The three confessed to having murdered Ankita byĀ pushing her into the Chilla power canalĀ to prevent her from exposing their demands.
September 23ā24, 2022
The accused were remanded toĀ judicial custody. The next day,Ā Ankitaās body was recoveredĀ 13 kilometers downstream in theĀ Chilla canal. Post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS Rishikesh.
